Originally, Sage Hiranya (later known as Eranna or Veeranna) performed intense penance under the tree and was revered for healing villagers. After his departure, the Narasimha idol was discovered beneath the same tree. Locals then installed a silver idol of Veeranna, worshipping both embodiments together—merging Shaiva and Vaishnava traditions .
It’s said Sri Raghavendra Swamy also visited, affirming the site's spiritual potency .
